Open Access Papers

Jenni makes open access academic papers available for reading, AI discussion, and citation. These papers appear through the tools you already use, so no separate browsing interface is needed.

How Open Access Papers Are Discovered

Open access papers appear in three places:

• AI Chat: ask the AI to find papers on a topic. The chat’s search tool includes open access papers alongside your library and external sources.
• Citation Search: click Cite or type @ in the editor; the Discover tab includes open access papers in its results.
• Direct Links: if you have an open access paper’s ID, you can access it directly in the reader.

Reading Papers

When you open an open access paper, it renders in the built-in PDF reader. The top bar displays the paper title, a search button for finding text within the PDF, and a capture button for highlighting text for citation or AI discussion.

Saving to Your Library

1. Open an open access paper in the reader
2. Click the Add to Library button (bookmark icon) in the top bar
3. Choose which collection to save to
4. The paper’s PDF, full text, and metadata are copied to your personal library
5. The button changes to show “Library Source” once saved

After saving, the paper is available for citation in any of your documents, just like any other library source.

Using Open Access Papers in Your Writing

• Cite the paper by clicking Cite or typing @ in the editor after saving it to your Library
• Ask the AI chat questions about the paper’s content
• The AI can draw on the paper’s full text when helping you write

Best Practices

• Save relevant papers to your library early in your research to make them available for citation and AI context.
• Use the AI chat to find papers on your topic. Ask naturally, such as “find papers about transformer attention mechanisms.”
• After saving, cite the paper the same way you cite any other library source.
